The San Juan de Dios Educational Foundation, Inc. Library is open from Monday to Thursday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and on Saturday upon Appointment.
The Multimedia Equipment Service is provided to enhance the delivery of instruction in the classroom through technological interventions for enhancing visual and audio presentations of lectures.
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) houses book on general information, general education and on professional subjects. The books are classified and assigned call numbers based from the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. While, it was arranged in different sections namely; from the left; Foreign Books section, Physical Therapy Books Section, Nursing Books Section, General Reference Section, and Filipiniana Section.
Reference service is a service being provided through answering learner’s queries on the where about of materials they needed. This library service extends advice as to what is the fitting books or reference materials that they can consult for their needed information.
Books that are technically processed are circulated to the learners in two ways, one as in-house circulation or the use of books within the library and overnight circulation which refer to the use of books for overnight-loan.
Overnight loan starts at 2:00 PM and must be returned on or before 8:00 o’ clock in the morning the following class day or based on what was stipulated on the due slip. The latter is applied to irregular and to graduating students only. Learners can borrow a maximum of three (3) books on different subjects.
This service includes formal and informal instruction about the library, its collection, its rules and regulations, processes, etc., and other instructional assistance wanted by the learners.
Formal instruction includes orientation conducted at the beginning of the academic year. While, informal instructions are the on-the-spot assistance whether for information and services of the LRC.
The Multimedia Center has twelve (12) computer units for searching and downloading of electronic resources. The electronic resources refer to the two databases subscribed by the LRC namely; Infotrac 100 and Worldbook Online. However, internet searching is also allowed to augment the physical collection of the library.
Moreover, learners can also use the computers for encoding of their reports/assignments/projects for a given period only.
This service is provided for linkages of the institution to other academic libraries for in-depth searches of information in completion with the thesis requirement of the graduating students. It is also availed by non-graduating students if needed.
Current Awareness Service (CAS). This service refers to the means of the LRC to disseminate public information as to its usage reports, new acquisition, library activities and others. This is done through the bulletin of information. While, Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) is a means of disseminating information to a selective group, department, individuals of their particular concerns.
Interlibrary loan is made available through Referral Service. This service refers students to other libraries where valued resources can be found other than what the library has. This serves as linkage of the library to other libraries.
The library welcomes gifts / donations as long as the materials add to the strength of the collection, that after an agreement that the library has the right to dispose them when their usefulness has already expired. Process the book and include it in the total collection and assign it in the where it is most useful.
